Now Accepting Applications for 2024/2025 Academic Year
The Gimme Foundation was established in 2004, in part, to provide scholarships to mining engineering students enrolled at the Pennsylvania State University and the West Virginia University. Once again, The Gimme Foundation will be accepting scholarship applications for undergraduate students majoring in mining engineering. The scholarship amounts for the 2024/2025 academic year will be a minimum of $1,500 up to a maximum of $10,000. Scroll down for more details.

To Apply You Will Need

Completed and signed application form
Including anticipated sources of income for the academic year, by semester, to demonstrate a financial need.
Sources of Income include: Student loans; 529 withdrawals; Income from part time employment, internships, co-op employment; Scholarships, grants, and other similar aid from family members

Typed Essay
The applicant will prepare a typed essay, describing why you chose a career in mining, what the mining industry means to you, and how your study of mining engineering will impact your short and long term career goals. Maximum 500 words.

Letter of Recommendation
The applicant shall request that a supervisor in a related field of study during an internship, or a professor in mining engineering submit a letter of recommendation to The Gimme Foundation. The letter of recommendation will be sent directly to The Gimme Foundation by the supervisor or professor and must be received by March 29, 2024.

Unofficial Transcript(s)
To be delivered after the Fall 2023 semester grades are processed.
Transcript will show classes taken by semester, along with both semester GPA and cumulative GPA. Transcript will also show credits transferred from other institutions or earned via advanced placement.

FAFSA Summary Submission
Copy of most recently completed FAFSA Summary Submission for the 2024/2025 academic year. International students should complete the International Student Financial Aid Application.

Resume
Copy of resume, including extracurricular activities.
These six (6) separate and distinct items of The Gimme Foundation Scholarship Application must be completed and uploaded by the application deadline of March 29, 2024.
After Submitting Your Application...
An interview, either by telephone or video conference, with one or more of the Board members from The Gimme Foundation, will be required to be eligible for this scholarship. You will be contacted to schedule the interview after the Board has reviewed your application. Interviews will be scheduled April 1 or 2, 2024.
